
What is Hastelloy C22?
Hastelloy C22, also known as alloy C22, is a highly adaptable austenitic nickel chromium molybdenum tungsten composite material with better resistance to pitting, crack erosion, and stress consumption fracture protection. High chromium content prevents oxidizing media, while molybdenum and tungsten content prevents media reduction. This nickel steel composite also has amazing antioxidant water-based media, including wet chlorine and combinations containing corrosive nitric acid or oxidizing acids and chlorine particles. The different corrosive agents Hastelloy C-22 can prevent oxidation of corrosive chlorides, wet chlorine, formic and acidic acids, iron and copper chloride, seawater, brine, and many mixed or contaminated synthetic materials, including natural and inorganic substances. This nickel combination also provides ideal protection against reduction and oxidation conditions encountered in the measurement stream.
Hastelloy C22 is a versatile nickel chromium molybdenum tungsten
alloy that has better overall corrosion resistance than other
existing nickel chromium molybdenum alloys, including Hastelloy
C276, C4 and Alloy625.
Hastelloy C22 alloy has excellent resistance to pitting, crevice
corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. It has excellent
antioxidant capacity in aqueous media, including mixed acids of wet
chlorine, nitric acid, or oxidizing acids containing chloride ions.
At the same time, Hastelloy C22 alloy also has an ideal resistance
to reducing and oxidizing environments encountered during the
process. Relying on this versatile performance, it can be used in
some troublesome environments or in multiple production purpose
factories. Hastelloy C22 alloy has exceptional resistance to
various chemical environments, including strong oxidizing
substances such as iron chloride, copper chloride, chlorine, heat
contaminated solutions (organic or inorganic), formic acid, acetic
acid, acetic anhydride, seawater, and salt solutions. Hastelloy C22
alloy has the ability to resist the formation of grain boundary
precipitation in the welding heat affected zone, making it suitable
for many chemical process applications under welding conditions.
Hastelloy C22 alloy is suitable for various chemical process
industries containing oxidizing and reducing media. The high
content of molybdenum and chromium makes the alloy resistant to
chloride ions, and tungsten further improves its corrosion
resistance.
