The carriage bolts , alos knowns as coach bolts or mushroom head (round head)square neck bolts, is a form of bolt which used to fasten metal to wood. The carriage bolts are features by its round head and square neck. This makes the bolt self-locking when placed through a square hole in a metal strap, or a round hole in most wood. This allows the fastener to be installed with only a single tool, a spanner or wrench, working from one side. The carriage bolts are put into a hole which are the same size as the shank of it and then to be hammered in the rest of the way, and the square shoulder locks it tightly.
